Bubba had a driver strategy approach to playing this course, his only real problem was the par three 6th;

“PING makes a good driver, so we were going to try to hit driver as much as we can.”

 “The rough is so thick that I would rather miss my driver in the rough than an iron off the tee or something like that.”

“It looked like that club could go over, really just in my mind playing tricks. So I didn’t commit to it. That’s really the only shot I wish I could redo.”

“I’m going to think tomorrow, how am I going to sleep 12 hours, what Caleb wants to do in the morning.”

“The house we rented has a little playground behind it, so he’ll be wanting to play back there. That’s what I’ll be doing.”

Bubba also mentioned Jason Day, who had a -2 under par 68 today;

“Jason Day is one of my favorite golfers of all time because his son has the best hair I’ve ever seen.”

“And by the way, he was at my house yesterday eating up all my macaroni and cheese. So you owe me for that.”

Tony started the day with three birdies, and then followed it with the same number of bogey’s;

“Fortunately for me it was really early.”

 “Through six holes, I looked at it as I’m still even par, although I did get off to a great start. Plenty of holes I feel like I can take advantage of with the wind direction today.”

“So I just tried to stay as patient as I could.”

“I pick and choose my spots, for sure, if I feel like it’s a hard fairway for me to hit with even a 2-iron or 3-wood in my hand. I’ll go ahead and hit the driver and put it up there whether I’m in the fairway or not.”

“At least I’m closer to the green. That’s the strategy on some of the holes and it worked today.”

Spencer carded  a final-round 63 at the Wyndham, and took that momentum into this tournament;

“I felt since I had a good last round, I was able for me to take it into this week.”

“I wasn’t really expecting to shoot what I shot last Sunday. It was kind of a bonus.”

This is a nice stress to have, it’s a lot better than having to go back to Q-School.”

“I’m really happy. The last few days have been good, since Sunday. There’s up-and-downs in this game.”

“I’m happy with where I am right now and who knows, maybe I can keep it going. That would be nice.”

Six players are at -4 under par, they are, Danny Lee, Jason Dufner, Cameron Tringale, Russell Knox, Paul Casey and Bryce Molder.

Jordan Spieth, in his first tournament as World number one had a poor day at the office, +4 over par 74, his worst round for three months;

”Just lost a little bit of focus.”

”All in all, I’m just going to take today as a fluke round. I still believe I’m playing well. It just happened to be an off day on a day where it counted.”
