Brendan Steele has the 1st round lead at the Valero Texas Open, at TPC San Antonio, as first round play was suspended for the day.
Brendan has an unfinished first round, completing 13 holes, playing the course backwards, but had a -8 under par total to be at the top of the Valero Texas Open leaderboard, when play was halted due to darkness. There was a 3 1/2 hour delay because of morning rain.
Charley Hoffman holds second place with a completed first round of -6 under par 66.
Sharing third place are Stuart Appleby, and Peter Malnati, both with completed rounds of -5 under par 67’s.
Defending champion, and hometown boy, Jimmy Walker opened with a +3 over par,75. Last year in his hometown event Jimmy posted four rounds in under par to hold off Jordan Spieth in what was his last TOUR victory.
