Chris was at -5 under par today for 13 holes and was leading the Italian Open when play was halted for the day, with a -13 under par total.

First round leader Rikard Karlberg did not even get to start his second round and will have a busy day tomorrow.

Chris was very happy to be bogey free for his 31 holes of the tournament so far;

“It feels great, it hasn’t been the best season for me so far, so it’s nice to be playing some good golf, finally.”

“Going bogey-free 31 holes is obviously a huge positive, because I’ve been making too many silly mistakes this season.”

“I scrambled really well in the first round and made a few important par saves, then today I started striking the ball well and hit some really good iron shots.”

“So I was a bit gutted when they called us in because I was hitting my stride.”

“It’s the same for everyone. You’ve just got to do your best to stay focused and keep your energy levels up, which isn’t always easy.”

Occupying second place is Ryder Cup bound Danny Willett, at -9 under par, he also has completed 13 second round holes, for -4 under par today.

Three players are tied in third place at -8 under par, Richard Green, -5 under par for his completed second round, Alex Levy, -5 under for 16 holes, and Chris Hanson -3 under for twelve second round holes.

Hopefully things will get sorted out tomorrow and we will have a clearer picture of what the tournament leaderboard will look like, depending on the weather of course.

Tournament Director David Williams told the waiting media;

“We’ve just got to wait and see what happens through the night, if we had a dry night and some reasonable weather over the weekend, then we could still get four rounds in and finish on time on Sunday night.”

“We have tried to be optimistic and get four rounds in, because that’s still the prime objective.”

“But we also have to be realistic, because if we get some more rain that’s going to prove very difficult.”
