As Val had no internet connection, she asked the head Green-Keeper Arnold Witteveen to look on Trademe for a power assisted golf trundler.
A deal was made, but unfortunately Val could not get to Kapiti to pick it up, so I agreed to deliver it to her, at her golf club.
I soon pulled in to Waipukurau Golf Club and drove to the sheds to meet Arnold and hand over the golf trundler. Arnold was sat on a Jacobsen motor mower;
After some discussion Arnold told me this particular mower was bought from my home course, Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club, I was wearing my PBGC shirt at the time. He was very pleased with the performance of the machine, and the good relationship he has with our Manager Leo Barber, who he dealt with regarding the purchase of the Jacobsen.
Following those pleasantries Arnold took me to Val’s house for tea and cake, and to complete the financial formalities. I have heard from Arnold since that day, saying Val is happy with the buggy, and is now going back to playing 18 holes instead of the nine she had recently been playing, because her powered trundler had been irreversibly damaged, by a golf cart. I wish Val all the best in her efforts to get back to 18 holes.
