Søren Kjeldsen and Thorbjørn Olesen, from Team Denmark, dominated play on day 2 of the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf, at Kingston Heath Golf Club.
The boys really cleaned up on day 2 of the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf, recording a team score -12 under par 60, to top the leaderboard with that total, giving them a three shot lead going into the week-end.
Thorbjorn said he was thinking of a 59
“To be honest, I was thinking a little bit about that 59 with the last two holes to go but 60 was a great score.”
“Søren got it going with holing that second shot and then I chipped in for eagle also. Combined we were very good.”
“I felt like yesterday we did a great job in the foursomes. It’s a tricky course, especially when it blows this much. We did well yesterday and that’s what we have to do again.”
Soren explained their strategy in this team event competition
“I was trying to play solid, Thorbjørn was playing exceptional so I thought if I get it in play and get it on the green, let him do all the fireworks and it worked pretty well.”
“We’re trying to make everybody proud. It’s just a treat to be here.”
Team China shot -7 under 65, to take second place at -9 under par.
Spain are now in third at -8 under par, shooting -5 under 67.
England, Italy, France and USA are all tied in fourth place at -7 under par.
