Matt Wallace, England, is way out in front at the Portugal Open with the second round suspended as darkness descended on Morgado Golf Resort.
Matt leads the Portugal Open carding -6 under par through 12 second round holes with a -16 under par total, and a five shot advantage over the field, sinking a great putt on the last hole to keep his momentum going;
“It was definitely more of the same, but actually, I probably played better today.”
“I had to deal with the pressure, and also the difference in the condition of the course because we teed off at 4.55pm. I’ve never done that before. I think I dealt with everything really well today.”
“I’m really happy with my performance. I holed a lovely putt on the last there to keep the momentum going, so I’m really pleased.”
Sebastian Heisele, Germany, has second place on his own, five shots back at -11 under par, he is currently at -2 under on the day with twelve holes completed.
Matthieu Pavon, from France,-4 under 69 today and Ashley Chesters, England, -2 under 71, both with completed second rounds, share third place with Erik Van Rooyen, South Africa, -4 under through 12 holes, and Jamie Rutherford, England, -3 under through 6 holes in his second round. All these players are at -9 under par for the weather affected tournament.
