James and Ricky shot first rounds of -6 under par 64 at the AT&T Byron Nelson to top the leaderboard on day 1. James was bogey free while Ricky carded two bogeys on the round.

Ricky said of his round;

“I’m having signs of brilliancy, I just need to put it all together.”

James mentioned the difficulty in putting in the wind;

“Probably effected putts a couple of inches.”

“You really have to pick your timing, you really need to pick your timing when you want to hit the ball.”

“And trust your line.”

Tied in fourth place, two shots back at -4 under par are: Matt Kuchar, Jhonattan Vegas, Jason Kokrak and Cameron Tringale.

There is a huge bunch of players at -3 under par, including Jason Day, and World number one Dustin Johnson.

Jason spoke about the wind he encountered on the course today, and his not taking a drop when he could have;

“In this wind, I think everyone’s kind of scrambling.”

“I was not going to drop it all the way back onto the other side of the road.”

“It was just in long grass and I wouldn’t be able to flop it over. It was quite a simple shot. You just had to contact it correctly.”
