Bernhard carded a final round -4 under 68 to win the Senior PGA Championship, at Trump National, with a -17 under par total and one shot victory This was the only senior Major title that had eluded him, and at the same time broke the record of Major wins, held by Jack Nicklaus.

Bernhard now has nine  senior Major titles on his resumé, and no doubt does not intend to stop there.

Bernhard frustrated second placed V.J. Singh with the accuracy of his Broomstick putter;

“I think what really frustrated him was my putting.”

“I made a bunch of putts just to keep in touch and he didn’t really make anything.”

“I found a way now that I feel reasonably comfortable most of the time, not always.”

“It’s encouraging for me to see that even under pressure I can make some putts.”

V.J. carded a last round -2 under 70, but could not hold on to the lead, and had to settle for a -17 under total;

“I missed a lot of putts out there. If I would have putted nicely, this thing probably would have been over a long time ago.”

 “But Bernhard played really solid. He never missed a shot and he was always on the green, and he putted nicely as well, so he deserved to win.”

These two were streets ahead of the field, third place was shared between Billy Andrade and Miguel Angel Jimenez, both with -13 under par tournament totals.
