A final round -5 under par 67 won the Bank of Hope Founders Cup for Inbee, from South Korea, with a -19 under par total, a five stroke winning margin.
Inbee was returning after a long break from golf, to work on her putting;
“I didn’t expect to win very early in the season, I mean obviously, after a long break.”
“In Singapore, I felt like my ball striking was quite good I and just needed to work on the putter a little bit. It has worked pretty good this week.”
Three ladies tied in second place at -14 under par, Marina Alex, USA, -4 under 68 today, Ariya Jutanugarn, Thailand, -2 under 70, and the wonderful Dame Laura Davies, England, with a final round -3 under 69.
Laura needs two points to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame, and a win here would have given her the title of oldest LPGA Tour winner, by an amazing 8 years;
“It would have been huge, I knew what the record was, and how old I am now, and not having won for God knows how many years on the LPGA.”
“It was as nervous as I’ve ever felt.”
“I almost shanked my drive and made bogey but then I chipped in for eagle on No. 2 and that calmed me down.”
“I was four over after six holes on Thursday so I’m quite pleased how I fought back.”
Ariya played alongside Laura;
“I love how Laura plays, she’s like my idol and I had so much fun.”
