Mike Lorenzo-Vera, France, makes a move to the top of the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open with a moving day 63 at Verdura Golf Club.
Mike carded -8 under par 63 to lead the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open after 54 holes with a -15 under par total, and a two shot advantage going into the final round tomorrow;
“If I bring the good game, I can win for sure.”
“If someone just doesn’t go crazy and shoot ten under if it’s good weather, I’ll have a really good chance.”
“I think it was better today. Everything came together around the turn so it was cool.”
“It was easier for sure but in that case you have to be careful because you can lose your focus and you know someone is going to shoot low so you just have to play the game and try to keep calm, wait for the birdies to come.”
Julien Guerrier, France, -4 under 67 today and Joakim Lagergren. Sweden, with another -8 under 63, share second place at -13 under par for the tournament.
Joakim enjoyed some good approaches to the greens, relieving the pressure on his putter;
“I started off very good going seven under through ten, played some awesome golf but didn’t really continue that streak of birdies.”
“It’s still a really good round.
“A lot of fun, I just enjoyed it out there. It was a great day, beautiful weather and pretty calm, no wind at all, so I just enjoyed it.”
“I wasn’t great off the tee, I was pretty straight but some awful strikes here and there. The approach shots were really good and I didn’t have to do a lot with the putter on the front nine.”
Julien was disappointed to finish with a bogey, his first of the tournament;
“I am a little bit disappointed because I finished with a bogey but otherwise I saved a lot of pars and I made an eagle on nine, which was good, and a birdie straight after on ten.”
“The course looked completely different without wind. The strategy is different, you can see some low scores with two guys shooting eight under, so it is very nice because everybody can win tomorrow.”
“I am very proud to make only one bogey in three rounds, it’s amazing, and I have to think of that and be happy.”
“I am confident I am playing good, I don’t make a lot of mistakes, so I just fight and try and be in the best position tomorrow.”
