There are two players tied at the top of the Quicken Loans National leaderboard, J.J. Spaun and Andrew Landry share the honor after the first round at TPC Potomac.
J.J. and Andrew matched each others opening rounds carding -7 under par 63 top lead the Quicken Loans National after the first round.
J.J. mentioned the wind conditions;
“It’s nice to know that a number out there is possible, obviously the conditions were pretty favorable, the wind wasn’t that bad.”
“It stayed in the same direction all day so you weren’t getting a bunch of tricky wind locations.”
“It’s nice for the confidence to get off to a good start and to kind of have some freedom to go out there tomorrow and try to back it up.”
“You don’t really expect to back it up with another seven under, but I think anything under par on this course is a great round.”
Andrew was happy with his start to the tournament;
“I know it’s playing a lot different than it did last year, but it’s still a long week.”
“I mean, there’s a lot of golf left and it’s just a great start.”
Billy Horschel and Andrew Putnam are tied in second spot at -6 under par, with first rounds of 64.
In third place at -5 under are Abraham Ancer, Mexico and Beau Hossler, USA.
Tiger Woods made an appearance, sporting a new putter, it did not help as he went round in even par, a long way from the top.
