There is a three-way tie at the top of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, Ryan Fox of New Zealand has some company in the form of Matthieu Pavon, France, and Erik van Rooyen of South Africa.
Ryan carded a second round -3 under par 69, Matthieu -4 under 68 and Erik stormed up the leaderboard with -7 under 65, to all lead the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open by one shot at -8 under par.
Ryan is enjoying the experience of being at the top;
“It’s probably my first time in one of these events being right up there, probably leading or going to be in the last group which is going to be a nice experience tomorrow.”
“I’ll just see what happens tomorrow. Looks like we’re going to get another good day so I’m looking forward to it.”
Matthieu is enjoying hot putter;
“The putter was pretty warm and it kept me in touch with the scorecard and then I started playing well on the back nine.”
“I love the crowd, the atmosphere of those Irish people and Scottish people.”
“Like last year, the guys are so great out there, and keep pushing on every holes and I will enjoy that for two more days.”
Joakim Lagergren, Sweden, has third place at -7 under, he signed for a -4 under 68 today.
Tournament host Rory McIlroy said last year that being the host was hard work and his golf suffered, and it has again this year, shooting +1 over 73 today to be -1 under for the competition, and seven shots off the lead.
