Zach, -4 under 67 today, and first round leader Kevin with a second round -1 under 70 lead the 147th Open Championship by just one shot at -6 under par after 36 holes.
Zach is flying under the radar, but is unsure who is controlling it;
“I don’t know who is managing the radar. It is irrelevant to me.”
“Maybe I’m just overly conservative and boring and that’s perfectly fine.”
“I just like to compete. It doesn’t matter where it is, what it is. Just give me an opportunity.”
Kevin, despite a few bogey’s today is still happy with his putter;
“I got off to the start I wanted to, a couple under through seven, got a little greedy on the eighth, made bogey.”
“Got it to where I wanted to be and obviously made double on the last hole.”
“Didn’t think I would hit that in the burn with an eight-iron but just didn’t come out the way I saw it.”
“Hit a lot of great putts coming down the stretch. Probably could have made two or three more, but they all lipped out.”
“I love where my putter is and love my position going into the weekend.”
Enigmatic Englishman Tommy Fleetwood shot the low round of the day -6 under par 65, to be tied in third place at -5 under, with two players from the USA, Pat Perez, -3 under 68 today, and Xander Schauffele with his second round -5 under 66.
Tommy was happy to put himself into contention; playing in the early morning rain;
“Today’s been a round where I’ve put myself back in the tournament and I’ve just got to move on from there really.”
“I’ll just try and keep doing the same things.”
“If I can hit it like I did today then, obviously, I’m going to have a lot of chances coming in over the weekend, and we’ll see where that takes me.”
“Everybody seems to want to know about the umbrella.”
“We got one given for free. We don’t always carry an umbrella.”
“So it just so happens this week that we’ve got a nice Open Championship brolly. It looked quite nice.”
