There are two ladies tied at the top of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open leaderboard, as temperatures dropped and the wind blew hard in the third round at Gullane Golf Links in Scotland. Ariya Jutanugarn, Thailand, and Amy Young of South Korea share the honor.
Ariya, and Amy both carded +2 over par 73, in the cold and windy third round conditions, to share the Ladies Scottish Open lead at -8 under par for the tournament.
Ariya actually saved her round with an Eagle at the par five 15th hole, chipping in from 40 yards out;
“I’m just really lucky, I just didn’t expect to make. I just want to make birdie.”
“When the wind started to blow today I said, here is the Scottish Open.”
“Here is the real one now.”
“I really just want to have fun and I have so much fun today. I hit everywhere today.”
It was Amy’s 29th birthday today, but the wind made putting hard;
“I totally forgot it was just my birthday.”
“I just focused how I’m going to play, but you know, a lot of people wished me a happy birthday today.”
“There was no break in the wind and it was really, really hard to putt. I missed a couple of short ones, but I think everybody did.”
Minjee Lee of Australia has third place, an even par round of 71 today giving her that position on her own.
Leader for the first two days rookie Tiffany Joh, USA, got blown off course, signing for a +9 over par 80, leaving her T 7 at -4 under for the competition.
More rain and wind is forecast for Sunday, so expect more low scoring tomorrow.
