There is a four-way tie at the top of the Fiji International leaderboard on day 1 at Natadola Bay Golf Club in Fiji. Andrew Dodt, Nick Cullen, Jarryd Felton all from Australia are joined by Ben Campbell of New Zealand.
Andrew, bogey free, Nick, Jarryd and Ben all signed for -5 under par 67 to lead the Fiji International.
Andrew said today was not easy, but saved par a few times with good putting;
“I’ll take that. That was not easy.”
“I’ve always said I’m a good wind player. I mean, you’ve still got to do it. The last six months haven’t been that great, so today was a step in the right direction.”
“I started leaking a few shots in the last three holes, but holed some good putts for par.”
“Especially around here, it’s easy to drop shots, so bogey-free was a bonus.”
Sharing 5th place at -3 under after rounds of 69 are three more Australians, Stephen Leaney, Matt Griffen and Maverick Antcliff.
Course designer and ex world number one Vijay Singh, Fiji, could not play his own course shooting +4 over par 76. Another ex number one Ernie Els, South Africa, signed for an even par round of 72.
