Charles carded a last round -3 under 67 and got into a play-off against Patrick, who unbelievably shot -9 under 61 and -8 under 62 on the Seaside Course at the week-end. They both finished with -19 under par totals, with Charles winning The RSM Classic title with a birdie on the second extra hole the par four 18th, and he was happy knowing he was headed for the Masters at Augusta in April;

“That was the first thing that popped into my head.”

Obviously, it means a lot to me being from Augusta but it means a lot to every player, right?”

“Every golfer in the world knows what the Masters is so I’m nothing special on that.”

“But that tournament, that atmosphere, just everything, it’s tough at home to sit back and watch that on television.”

“The way I started today, I just honestly thought I shot myself in the foot again.”

“I thought that was pretty much over. I had seen this movie before.”

Patrick, who broke Tigers Woods‘ scoring record at Stanford University, and tied his victory record, tried as hard as he could, 61 and 62 on the week-end;

“I fought as hard as I could, I didn’t really back down.”

“I stayed aggressive and I made birdies all the way to the finish.”

“It’s a testament to how well Charles played.”

Webb Simpson, with a -5 under 65 final round claimed third place, one shot back at -18 under par.
