The Belgians cruised to the World Cup of Golf victory with a final foursomes round of -4 under par 68 to post the winning total of -23 under par, a three shot winning margin.
Thomas Detry paid tribute to his playing partner;
“It feels amazing, it was always nice to have that big brother talking to you and calming you down.”
“It’s like you’re playing a game against your buddy at home, I learned a lot thanks to him.”
Thomas Pieters reciprocated;
“I’m super proud of him. That drive on 18 was unbelievable.”
“I could see he was a bit nervous, I was nervous as well.”
“To finish with a birdie tops it off. These putts on the back nine aren’t easy, I know, and he made plenty of them.”
Tied in second place at -20 under were the Host nation Australia, Cameron Smith / Mark Leishman, -7 under 65 today, and Mexico, Abraham Ancer / Roberto Diaz, -6 under 66.
