Lexi Thompson, the teenager from the USA shot a second round -6 par 66 to lead the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters by two shots. In interview she said,
“I just made a few more putts today. I hit it a little bit closer,” she said. “I practiced after yesterday’s round and it worked today. And I hit a few shots from tap-in range, so that helped out a lot, too. I get to hit a lot of drivers. You just have to place it out in the fairway here and go for your second shot. This is such a great tournament and I mean it would be an honour to win this, so I’m just going to take it easy and play one shot at a time.”
Sixteen year old American Lexi Thompson has taken the lead at the Dubai Ladies Masters, shooting a bogey free six under 66. She chased down clubhouse leader Sophie Gustafson and is now two shots ahead. Lexi has her dad on the bag and is very comfortable with the arrangement.
“It’s great to have my dad on the bag. He knows my game the best. He’s been pretty much caddying for me my whole life, so for now it’s the best thing for me.”
“I was just thinking stay steady and play consistent – take it one shot at a time. I just made a few more putts today, and I hit it a little bit closer.
Michelle Wie is the highest ranked player in the field and has recovered from a slow start to shoot a bogey free 67 and move into contention. Michelle was fairly happy with her position and is concentrating on going low tomorrow.
“A little frustrated after the last two holes, but I kept steady out there today. I made a couple more putts, and I have two more days to try and shoot some more low scores. I’m still in contention, and gotta shoot another low round tomorrow.”
