Round 1 of the Maybank Championship in Malaysia was suspended due to darkness following a storm that stopped play for an hour and fifty minutes earlier in the day. Chris Paisley of England is the current leader, with 40 players still to complete their first rounds, which will resume tomorrow.

Chris carded a bogey free first round of -7 under par 65, before the storm struck, to be the clubhouse leader for the Maybank Championship at Saujana Golf & Country Club in Kuala Lumpur;
“It was great and nice to keep the form going.”
“I just played really solid, hit it well off the tee so gave myself a lot of wedges and short irons into the greens which were really good and gave myself a lot of birdie chances, couldn’t have gone better.”
“It’s very hot and not much wind, so scoring wise it is quite easy but to keep your focus is quite difficult with how tiring the heat is but it is good fun.”
Sharing second place at -6 under are David Horsey, England, with a completed round, and Mike Lorenzo-Vera, from France, who still has two holes to play in his opening round.
Five players are tied in fourth spot with finished first round scores of -4 under par, Andrew Beef Johnston, England, David Lipsky, USA, Arjun Atwal, India, Soomin Lee, South Korea, with Alex Levy and Romain Wattel of France.
