Marathon LPGA Classic. Nasa Wins Rain Affected Tournament.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan wins the Marathon LPGA Classic, the final round being suspended due to inclement weather at 09:40, and did not resume at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Ohio.  Nasa was declared the  winner based on her 54 hole score of -19.

Nasa had a six shot lead at the end of the third round, the tournament being reduced to three rounds it was a comfortable victory;

Knowing everybody is working really, really hard to try to get this to a 72-hole tournament.”

“I wish it would’ve been able to do it, but with this weather it was really hard.”

“I’m happy to be able to win.”

Elizabeth Szokol and Mina Harigae, both from the USA, tied for second place with -13,  both ladies earning the best finishes of their LPGA Tour careers to date.

Marathon LPGA Classic. Nasa Has Six Shot Lead.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan has opened up a six shot 54 hole lead at the Marathon LPGA Classic at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Ohio,

Nasa shot a third round -7  under par 64 to lead the Marathon LPGA Classic by six shots at -19 under par;

I think the original thinking of this course was that it was a very narrow course so it might be difficult for me.”

 “Then it came out to be that the narrow makes it easier to get to the target, so I think this is what was good.”

“I think last five holes are usually the place where you really have to concentrate and try for the birdies.”

“I think that kind of clicked and gave me those birdies.”

Elizabeth Szokol, -4 under 67 and Mina Harigae, -5 under 66, both from the USA, are tied in second place at -13 under par.

Mina thinks things can change, for the better for her;

“I’ve seen the scores out here, some girls;  you can go really low out here, but you just never know.”

“Golf is a funny game. I think if I just keep my head down and keep going forward, it might pan out.”

Esther Henseleit of Germany had a -4 under 67 today for fourth place at -12 under;

“My ball-striking was so bad today.”

“I think I hit one good iron shot today, so it really was a grind out there. I made a lot of up-and-downs. Holed a few good putts. It just wasn’t that easy out there for me today.”

Marathon LPGA Classic. Nasa Holds On To Top Spot.

Nasa Hataoka of Japan holds on to the top spot on the Marathon LPGA Classic leaderboard on the second day at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Ohio.

Nasa carded a -2 under par 69 round which included six birdies, four of them consecutively late in her back nine; to post -12 under par at the top of the Marathon LPGA Classic leader board;

“My shots were not as good as yesterday, didn’t have that many chances. I had a lot of problems, but I was able to fix that for the last part and bring it back up.”

“I was kind of stiff on impact and I was able to realize that and adjusted to relax myself and that brought those birdies.”

In second place at -10 under is Mina Harigae who had a second round -5 under par 66;

“I feel really confident, comfortable with all aspects of my game.”

“Just everything just kind of feels solid and everything is kind of flowing together, so it feels really good.”

Alison Lee and Elizabeth Szokol both signed for -5 under 66 today to claim third position with totals of -9 under.

Alison is really happy to be in contention once again;

It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen my name on the leaderboard like this.”

“Putting myself in contention for the weekend, it feels really, really good. It almost makes it as though two years didn’t happen, which is awesome to feel.”

Elizabeth is looking forward to another 36 holes;

“I’m just really looking forward to it, 36 more holes.”

 “I really like this golf course, so just see what the weekend brings. I’m excited to have fans back.”
