The Cabrera’s, from Argentina, won the PNC Father/Son Challenge with a -25 under total, a three shot winning margin for the two rounds. Angel Jnr was not sure if they had envisioned winning, but Angel said through an interpreter;

“I didn’t have a very good year on tour, so I wasn’t really playing that well.”

“But once you make it to a golf tournament like this and you are able to tee it up on the first hole, you know you can win.”

“This is certain my best week of the year.”

“To play alongside all the legends, as well as playing alongside my son, has been the greatest week of the year.”

“This is a very special win, I can assure you of that.”

Tied in second place at -22 under were  Defending champions David Duval and stepson  Nick Karavites, with Bernhard Langer and Jason Langer.

LPGA. Kraft Nabisco Championship. Inbee In Charge

Inbee Park is in charge of the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills in California, scorching round the Dinah Shore Tournament Course in -5 under par 67. She now leads the Championship by 3 strokes, with her total of -12 under par, at the conclusion of the third round.

Inbee Park / LPGA Tour

After her marvelous round Inbee was asked if she felt she needed to win another Major to validate her position in Women’s golf;

” Of course, I only have won one major in my seven-year career, and after the U.S. Open, I haven’t won for a while. I had a good year last year, but I definitely need to show a little more good play and maybe a couple more majors would be nice. I mean, this kind of golf course, anything can happen. So no, I can’t really say that only one player is trying to catch me. I think everybody within maybe six, seven shots of the lead is still in the mix. My putter was really good today, but I don’t think I’m the best putter on the earth. There’s a lot of good putters out here, but I think I’m one of them.”

Trying to chase down Inbee is Lizette Salas, a -3 under par 69 round today to give her a total of -9 under par. Lizette does not think it is all done and dusted;

” No, not in my professional career, maybe in college I came back to win a golf tournament, and so this is all a learning experience for me, and I’m just trying to have fun with it.  You know, if I just keep it simple and just stick to my game plan and just really believe that I can pull it off and I have so many people around me that believe in it, I just have to believe it myself, so we’ll just see. I just say keep cheering me on, and that’s what keeps the adrenaline going and keeps the momentum up for me.  You know, I feed off the crowd, and to have my fans out here, my family here, it just helps me stay calm.  I said yesterday other players would feel more pressure if they had more fans out.  To me that’s the opposite.  I welcome more cheers.  I heard lots of “fight ons” today and lots of lilies, and that’s very heartwarming.  I’m playing in my backyard, so I can’t ask for anything more than that. I can’t sleep very well when I’m in a position like I am today.  I just tend to think of a lot of what‑ifs, so tonight I’m just going to tell my mind to shut up and to let me sleep.”

There are six ladies jockeying for the minor placings behind Inbee and Lizette, but as they are way back on -6 under par, one of them would need to shoot a magical round to even come close. I think Inbee has her destiny in under control.

New Grips for 2012, Butch Harmon recommends Winn Grips

World renown golf instructor and golf coach for PGA TOUR stars, Butch Harmon, has for some time now been recommending the use of Winn grips. He is not just a spokesperson for Winn, Butch has been using them himself since they first came on the scene. He also passes on this information to his pupils at his golf training academy,                                   Apart from possessing natural skills Butch is a great believer in enjoying what your doing, you must have fun playing golf.

Natalie Gulbis from the Ladies Tour is also a fan the these grips, you can hear what they both have to say at this link;

We here at White Dragon Golf use Winn grips on our new putter, which has just recently been confirmed by the Royal and Ancient as conforming to the rules of golf. So we will soon be offering this new equipment on the worldwide web. Not sure if we can get Butch to trial one of these putters, but we will be asking him to take a look. I will keep you informed of our progress.                                       Natalie GulbisButch Harmon World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship - Preview Day 3

Golf World Cup China

According to reports the two golf powerhouses of golf in China are to arrange a meeting to try and stop a prize money contest in China. Tenniel Chu a golf tycoon is worried about upsetting the worlds golfing authorities by staging non sanctioned events and attracting top golfers with high dollar appearance money offers, let alone the massive total prize money.

TENNIEL Chu has called for a cap on prizemoney in China to safeguard the sport’s traditions after a sudden surge in rich tournaments threatened to spark a purse war.

The golf tycoon was speaking after an extraordinary month, when players visiting China took home $US19.5 million ($19.55m) in prizemoney, including golf’s biggest winner’s cheque, along with millions of dollars in appearance fees.

“The last thing we want is to blow up expectations, given the (recent) appearance fees and purses,” Chu, whose family owns China’s Mission Hills golf resorts, said during last week’s World Cup at Hainan Island, won by the US team of Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland. “China has deep pockets but the last thing we want to do is to raise financial expectations to levels which are non-proportional to tradition and established events.”

I was very interested to hear that Ping have stored away in a vault 2600 gold putters. As we are a golf equipment company ourselves, I think it is great idea.

Ping (of the famous Ping Golf Clubs) have gone overboard with the idea of golden putters. Apparently, for every Ping putter that produces a win on tour, the company creates a gold plated version of the same model that was used by the player.

Over the years, this has meant that over 2,600 Gold Plated putters and clubs have been created and they are all stored in the same vault. Golfing legend Seve Ballesteros alone is said to have a record 46 gold plated clubs inside the safe. While most of the clubs inside are putters, in 1986, Bob Tway holed a bunker shot see off the challenge of Greg Norman in the USPGA Championship – and Solheim honoured the shot by making a gold-plated wedge and storing it in the Putter Vault.
